Project Online is cloud-based solution for project, portfolio, and resource management by Microsoft. Like Office 365, this series of products is subscription-based and offers the latest updates in features and functionality. This versatile software suite is well-suited to allocate resources and manage progress for a multitude of industries, including retail, healthcare, government, manufacturing, professional services, financial services, and oil & gas.
Microsoft currently offers three versions of Project Online:
- Project Online Essentials - $7 per user/month (from Microsoft); an add-on module for additional team members
- Project Online Professional - $30 per user/month (from Microsoft); cloud-based project management via web browser with up to 5 PCs per license
- Project Online Premium - $55 per user/month (from Microsoft); complete project and portfolio management system in the cloud with up to 5 PCs per license
With Project Online, project managers and teams will get access to a plethora of helpful tools to keep projects on task and on time through Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management (PPM), including the following:
- Updating tasks from any device
- Submitting time sheets
- Share documents with team members
- Communicate with team members using Skype for Business
- Synchronize projects with SharePoint task lists
