Solid Performer

Veeam Backup Essentials Standard 2 socket bundle for Vmware is a solid performer in the backup/data recovery field. Menus that are intuitive and easy to navigate even for the IT novice, once configured properly it's just second to none. I've never had a single problem with data recovery and Veeam, it works perfectly in our smaller not-for-profit environment (a College in the UK) and our Hyper-V setup. I use this product safe in the knowledge that the college's data (for students and all staff alike) will be safe and secure. The modular Exchange restore function saves messing around with Exchange PowerShell commands, copying databases, creating recovery databases, mounting them, restoring from them and then dismounting them again - it's all done in a few clicks. This product comes highly recommended.

best backup

Veeam Backup Essentials Standard 2 socket bundle for Vmware is the best backup solution I have used to date! Simple to install, configure and manage. When it does have an error, 90% of the error messages are in simple English as to what has caused the fault. Would definitely recommend to others! This is by far the best backup software I've used to date. For the most part, it works and is relatively straight-forward to configure. Their support is good, although I tire of hearing the blames on Microsoft VSS. If you're going to code and sell software based off a different vendor's framework, be prepared to offer support for both yours and the framework vendors products! That said though, I really do like this software. I would love to see an option for physical backups so I could switch my entire environment over to Veeam.

Using it for 3 years now

Been using Veeam Backup Essentials Standard 2 socket bundle for Vmware for 3 years now and have upgraded a few times. We still require tape backups, so even that works pretty good. There have been issues over the years, some self inflicted ( such as the speed of our spinning disk, now SSDs, which made rollup windows crazy long ). Sometimes we get different answers from different helpdesk folks. I do like how easy it is to install/configure. Editing jobs is easy as well. Exchange backup works, but exchange restore at the mailbox level is not that great ( at least in the previous version ). Dumping to a pst file is not a problem though, it has more to do with permissions. It does what it is supposed to do though, and thats backup the data. File restore is easy, especially now that they have fixed the issue with restoring folders with hundreds of thousands of files. We were hit a few times with ransomware and Veeam Backup Essentials Standard 2 socket bundle for Vmware got us through it! We have since adjusted protections on shared files, updated some policies and changed our AV.
