Vmware Vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5 Standard 25 Vm Pack works! It seems really silly to say but with a product like this, stability is key so the fact that we've never run into any issues with it crashing is honestly the highest praise it can get. VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) is used for mission critical servers. It gives us the ability to recover quickly, minimizing downtime in our globally supported company. We use the 25 server license for our environment and can fit all our mission critical systems for DR/BC. The license worked well within our budget. Setting up a test process and walk-thru is probably the most difficult part of this process. An "easy" test button would be cool.

The installation had not pain points. I merely followed the prompts, filled in the input boxes, and bam--installed, both Vmware Vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5 Standard 25 Vm Pack (SRM) and the Embedded PostGres database. Configuration: Connecting the source and target replication sites went without a hitch. Matching up how I wanted SRM to re-configure a virtual machine (VM) at the target site in the event of both failover and testing also went pretty well. I did find, however, that if I wanted a more automated configuration I needed to name both the source and target networks similarly. I liked configuring the VMs into "application groups" so that I could logically define dependencies. Using hardware replication made SRM configuration much simpler and, in my opinion, more reliable too--I really cannot say I would recommend replicating using the built-in software replication. Use: I really like the ease with which I can practice a failure and test how the replicated VM (and its dependancies) will behave in the event of a real disaster without impacting my production site in any way.

Strong integration into a broad virtualization environment. Existing environment is 93% virtualized on Vmware Vcenter Site Recovery Manager 5 Standard 25 Vm Pack and implementing this product was part of the next step in our evolution of the environment. Challenges included the evaluation of the underlying network infrastructure for improvements as well as customer understanding of the technology. Customer needed to become comfotable with the capability so a proof of concept was implemented and results reviewed. High price gives this software 4 stars
