Microsoft Project 2010 Standard offered vast improvements over its predecessors when it was introduced in 2009, and it remains a popular program today. This version of Project was the first to incorporate the Ribbon tab interface to find and use Project features and controls. Also, this version was the first to allow users to zoom in and out quickly to change the perspective of timelines and schedules and was the first to incorporate Microsoft Backstage as a way to access tools, templates, and program options. In effect, many of the features seen in later versions of Project debuted in Project 2010. Ease of use is key, and the ability to work seamlessly with Word and Excel makes this the program of choice for many project managers and team members. Installing this software is also attractive for start-up or smaller businesses because of its lower price than more recent editions.
