Overview

Access your Data

With Access 2013 you can connect, manage and analyze your data stored locally and in remote databases. Import data from Access desktop databases, Excel, ODBC, text files and SharePoint. View your data and create applications to interact and analyze it.

Building an App

Using your SharePoint server or Office 365 site as a host, you'll be able to build a polished, browser-based database app. Under the hood, Access apps use SQL Server to provide the best performance and data integrity. On the startup screen, click Custom web app. With Access 2013, you can still create traditional desktop databases from scratch. Or, try out a template to create an app, a desktop database, or a web database.

New Table Templates

Quickly add tables to your app using pre-designed table templates. If you're tracking tasks, search for the Tasks template and click it. If you see the multiple-table indicator next to a template, that means Access will add commonly used related tables for you so you can get started with a truly relational database. Access creates views for each table that display data from related tables.

Easy Organization

Access apps save you the trouble of building views, switchboards and other user interface (UI) elements. Table names show up on the left edge of the window, and the views for each table appear across the top. All apps have a similar navigation structure, making it easier for people to learn and switch between apps. You can always add more custom views besides the ones provided by the app.

Take Control of your Data

Discover all of the powerful features from Microsoft Access. Connect, manage and control your databases with easy to build apps.

Whats new in Access 2013 In a word, apps. An Access web app is a new type of database that you build in Access, then use and share with others as a SharePoint app in a web browser. To build an app, you just select the type of data you want to track (contacts, tasks, projects, and so on). Access creates the database structure, complete with views that let you add and edit data. Navigation and basic commands are built-in, so you can start using your app right away.

My First venture

My first venture into databases was DBase 2 running on CPM86. I then used the original Access and haven't really used it since. I recently had to create a somewhat large possibly relational database and decided to learn how much the original has changed and try to remember the basics. I found the structure of this volume divided into 9 books written in such a way that it will teach the novice and easily answer questions for those who are familiar with database construction but have specific questions. In short, I think this is the perfect volume for those learning as well as those who need specific answers.

A bit Pricey!

I purchased the software key so that I have the option of moving it to another computer if necessary. I am not really rating the software in this review-I know what Microsoft Access 2013 does and needed it on my machine. As far as the install process goes, I have nothing but good things to say about it. I followed the installation directions and had the software installed within 10-15 minutes. The only "hitch" in the process is that a dialog box popped up stating something to the effect that the process had closed but the installation process was still taking place (i.e., conflicting message). A bit pricey!

Wonderful Database program

Microsoft Access 2013 With Disc Retail Box and USB is a wonderful database program. Many people do not use Access to its' fullest extent, nor do they use it when it is the most appropriate program. The thing about access is that a lot of these functions can be accomplished in other programs, like excel....it is just entirely too difficult to accomplish properly in that program. This key card worked very well, with no errors. It gives you clear cut instructions on where to download the program, and how to set it up. Enjoy!
