Overview

Access your Data

With Access 2013 you can connect, manage and analyze your data stored locally and in remote databases. Import data from Access desktop databases, Excel, ODBC, text files and SharePoint. View your data and create applications to interact and analyze it.

Building an App

Using your SharePoint server or Office 365 site as a host, you'll be able to build a polished, browser-based database app. Under the hood, Access apps use SQL Server to provide the best performance and data integrity. On the startup screen, click Custom web app. With Access 2013, you can still create traditional desktop databases from scratch. Or, try out a template to create an app, a desktop database, or a web database.

New Table Templates

Quickly add tables to your app using pre-designed table templates. If you're tracking tasks, search for the Tasks template and click it. If you see the multiple-table indicator next to a template, that means Access will add commonly used related tables for you so you can get started with a truly relational database. Access creates views for each table that display data from related tables.

Easy Organization

Access apps save you the trouble of building views, switchboards and other user interface (UI) elements. Table names show up on the left edge of the window, and the views for each table appear across the top. All apps have a similar navigation structure, making it easier for people to learn and switch between apps. You can always add more custom views besides the ones provided by the app.

Take Control of your Data

Discover all of the powerful features from Microsoft Access. Connect, manage and control your databases with easy to build apps.

Whats new in Access 2013 In a word, apps. An Access web app is a new type of database that you build in Access, then use and share with others as a SharePoint app in a web browser. To build an app, you just select the type of data you want to track (contacts, tasks, projects, and so on). Access creates the database structure, complete with views that let you add and edit data. Navigation and basic commands are built-in, so you can start using your app right away.

Microsoft Access 2013 Retail Box with Disc

I coiuldn't find a lower price anywhere, and it downloaded promptly and works. All I could want from this purchase, since I was already familiar with Access 2013 Retail box. I bought it because purchasing Microsoft Office Home and Business, plus separately getting Access and Publisher, was cheaper than buying Microsoft Office Pro the same day. I had to do without Outlook, but I don't use Outlook.

I ended up happy!

After reading all the bad reviews and cautionary tales for this product, I was freaked out. I needed to get Microsoft Access 2013 for a college class assignment that is due in a week. I didn't have time to wait up to four days (as stated in one review) to get the program working. But reading the review that advised checking the version of Office already installed (whether you are running Office in 32 bit or 64 bit), I decided to take a chance. I am glad I did. I downloaded the program in less than five minutes and installed in less than twenty. So I'm wondering why others would have such a bad time of it. I think there may have been slight exaggerations made.

Had to learn it

I was concerned about some of the reviews having nightmares about the download, but I went ahead anyway. Like one other reviewer, the whole thing took less than 5 minutes (!!!) Perhaps Microsoft has cleaned up some of the installation instructions. At one point it says clearly to use 32-bit, even on a 64-bit machine, if the MS Office you have installed is 32-bit. Maybe that's the key, maybe it was just luck..., who knows. In any case, it worked like a charm. I still need to learn about Microsoft Access 2013.
