Overview

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010

Exchange Server 2010 has won awards for being the best mail server available and despite there being newer versions on the market, it remains a popular mail server choice today.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 brings a rich set of technologies, features, and services to the Exchange Server product line.

Supports people and organizations
_____

The goal of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 is to support people and organizations as their work habits evolve from a communication focus to a collaboration focus.

Helps lower the total cost of ownership
_____

At the same time, Exchange Server 2010 helps lower the total cost of ownership whether you deploy Exchange 2010 on-premises or provision your mailboxes in the cloud.

Use licenses assigned to the devices

Exchange Server 2010 Standard is a very popular mail server and is used by many companies.
____________________

Five client access licenses

Businesses using Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Standard need to have licenses to access the server. This pack includes five client access licenses (CALs) that are designed for use with devices rather than individuals.

When new employees are hired
_____

When new employees are hired, they are typically setup with a company email as one of the early new hire policies. The device license is assigned to the employees computer rather than the employee.

If an employee leaves the company
_____

If an employee leaves the company or is reassigned, the device license stays in place; in order to use it, a new hire simply needs to have their email credentials installed on the computer with the device license.

Anywhere access

Exchange Server 2010 is an award-winning mail server that is flexible, allowing it to perfectly meet a companys needs.
____________________

This server allows for anywhere access so users can check their emails from

desktop

laptop

tablet

cell phone

Note that this device license does not need to be assigned to a PC. If the company uses laptops exclusively for example, the license would be assigned to the laptop. The employee would not have access to their email using multiple devices.

A rich set of technologies, features, and services

Installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 is not the final step when it comes to using this email client. The user also needs a client access license (CAL) to see the full benefits of this popular program. Without a CAL, the user will not be able to access the Exchange server.
____________________

Many security measures in place

Users with a CAL in hand can send emails using Exchange 2010 from the desktop, laptop, tablet or cell phone and all transmissions will be secure as a result of the many security measures in place. These measures include data compliance and loss prevention tools that will help companies easily protect communications.

Performs to the needs of your business

Exchange Server can also be set up to perform to the needs of an individual business as opposed to a one size fits all approach to mail servers.

Far better!

Despite cost this is an excellent software and so far my favourite release of Exchange. Far better than previous releases. I started as an IT Admin using 2003, and I really like Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 5 Client CALs Box with all of the new features and management abilities it brings to the table. We upgraded just this year from a dying Exchange 2003 server, and things have been very smooth since that time. The updated Outlook Web App is a HUGE improvement over 2003. Also, I find it much simpler to import / extract PST files using powershell than methods that had to be utilized in 2003.

Solid

Exchange 2010 Server 2010 5Client CALs box is solid and very easy to manage, it can get complicated if you make your design complicated. I love the SSO integration with windows based domains. This is, by far, the best exchange server I've dealt with. All of the problems I experienced were related to the 2003=>2010 migration. Exch2010 uses 60% of your ram for just the STORE, this is why you can't use dynamic in VM. The interface is solid and very informative. The built-in BPA is very helpful as are the other tools that come along for the ride. It's riding on a 2012 Hyper-V VM. Do your homework, there's a ton of prep work to do if you want to roll out smoothly. Read up on SAN & Licensing quirks and figure out a good layout. Plan, plan, plan!

I still love it

Been great to work with and shame we had to move away from this. Brilliant to use and easy to Admin with plenty of features to maintain full control over users mail. I have been an Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 5 Client CALs Box Admin for years. Exchange has always been a great Microsoft product, but it keeps evolving with every release. I really enjoy Exchange 2010 and the new OWA along with it. Great mail server but is a resource hog it will use all of the memory you can throw at it . I still love it
